In Honor of My Brother
This month has been the hardest month of my life. My family and I moved over 3000 miles, from the west coast to the east coast. My children have had to say goodbye to everything they knew and felt comfortable with and I had to ensure them that our new home would be just as wonderful as our old one. Seeing the heartache in them, broke my heart as well. But I knew that the move was in our best interest and that my kids would benefit in so many ways, so I brushed their tears and kissed their little heads and hugged them close and told them how it would be okay.
Two days after we arrived, my children were the ones brushing my tears and kissing me while whispering that it would be okay. See, two days after we arrived, I watched my big brother die from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
I have added a page to my website with the same title as this post. I will be donating 10% of my royalties from 9/1/2013 through 12/20/2013 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in his honor as my final birthday present to my big brother. He would have been 34. I have linked the website to LLS and I urge you to check it out, read and learn as much as you can, and help in anyway that you can. It is my hope that one day we will find a cure, save a life, and never have to say goodbye to a love one at the hands of Cancer.
